Para murid di English with RnB berasal dari berbagai latar belakang pekerjaan. Kebanyakan dari mereka mempunyai tujuan belajar yang sama, yaitu meningkatkan skills berbahasa Inggris di tempat bekerja. Dengan begitu, mereka dapat berkomunikasi secara lancar dengan kolega-kolega mereka yang berasal dari luar negeri. Karena itulah para tutor menjadikan pekerjaan sebagai salah satu bahan diskusi di kelas, dan kali ini English with RnB mengutip hasil tulisan beberapa murid mengenai pekerjaan mereka. I’m a clinical application specialist. I work for Philips. It provides medical equipment like USG, MRI, CT scan, etc. As an application specialist, I have to make sure our customers understand the system of ultrasonography machine. I like my job because it’s rewarding. It makes me feel useful as a human, since I can share my knowledge to help other people.

I work for Recapital as a CEO assistant. That’s an investment company which is a holding of several subsidiaries in Indonesia. Our core business is buying some failed companies then we restructure them, including their finances, organization, and so on. Eventually we make them better. I assist my boss to manage his schedules, his trips, and sometimes become his surrogate to attend some meetings. I love my job since I have a good networking. It’s very challenging because I can know people from different backgrounds. Apart from assisting my boss, I also assist the company to organize some events, so it makes me more creative as well.

I am an aviation inspector. I work for the Ministry of Transportation. It monitors airlines in Indonesia. As an inspector, I have to ensure that all aircrafts are in airworthy condition and the crew are in good condition for flying. I am responsible for all airlines in Indonesia. Most of my time is spent for surveillance and ramp check of aircrafts. I like my job because it is challenging and rewarding. It makes me help a lot of people. I ensure people can fly safely, but sometimes it makes me unable to have holiday, because while a lot of people are having holiday, I must work, but I am happy.

I’m an administrative officer. I work in finance and administration division. I work for PT Tri Andalan Servindo. This company is an oil and gas specialist. I’m responsible for purchasing and import logistics. I have to deal with suppliers and forwarders and arrange the import process at customs. Besides, I have to ensure customers that the goods arrive well. I like my job. It makes me learn different things every day. I meet some people from other countries and learn how to treat them due to the different cultures and characters. However, I don’t like the injustice at work even though it doesn’t happen to me.

I am a quality engineer. I work for PT Valmet. It is a service company that provides repair and maintenance services on pulp and paper industry. There are about 125 employees in PT Valmet. I have to ensure that the quality control system can work properly. Most of my time is spent checking reports of products, and if there are any deviations, I should make deviation reports and send them to my manager for approval.

I am a product manager. I work in building material industry. My office is in Pasaraya Blok M. I work from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. As a product manager, I’m responsible for the development of new products based on the market needs or the market surveys. I have to boost the sells of current products by making promotions, comparing our products with other products, and increasing the distribution of the products.

I run my own business, so I work for myself. My company produces plastic granules and compounds as well as colors the plastic materials. I have 30 employees, 6 staff, 2 managers, 2 drivers, 3 security guards, and the rest are in production department and engineers. We supply our products to injection plastic companies. They produce various forms of products from the plastic granules that we supply. Most of their products are automotive products. My job is very exhausting because I have to manage a lot of things, control many people, and meet many clients. However, it is satisfying since I can overcome many challenges. My family and my goal to develop the company become my biggest motivation to be optimistic.
